Season 2008 in Formula 1: The New Era

After his highly successful debut in 2007, Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly bidding for great achievements. According to many, patience and diligence are among the key elements needed for great triumph. However, the young Brit has no intention of being patient as he has the necessary qualities and car to bring him the title. In the 2008 season, Lewis Hamilton won his first world title with the McLaren-Mercedes team. At the tender age of 23, the Briton became the youngest champion in the history of Formula 1, as well as the first black winner of the trophy.

The Briton is making an outstanding effort to fight off competition from Ferrari driver Felipe Massa as for almost the entire season the two have been chasing each other in the standings. Ultimately, the title was decided in the final race at the Brazilian Grand Prix. What's more, it happened in the last corner of the last lap, after Hamilton managed to overtake Timo Glock and finish 5th, thus guaranteeing his first Formula 1 world title. Scuderia Felipe Massa. Third is his teammate Kimi Raikkonen, who failed to defend his trophy.
For constructors with two drivers at the head of the order, the title goes to Ferrari. The Scuderia triumphed for the second consecutive year.
In 2008 Formula 1 also hosts the first night race, the Singapore Grand Prix.
