However, Formula 1 is a championship that knows how to be unpredictable and in the 1987 season it proved it again. <\/p><p style=\"margin-top:0pt;padding-top:0;margin-bottom:10pt;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.38\">The great and well-known rivals Alain Prost and Nelson Piquet once again engage in a fierce battle. Their McLaren and Williams-Honda teams, too. At the top, however, there is only room for one. Against this background, Arton Senna&#039;s ambition with McLaren also intervenes in the bitter dispute between the great opponents. And also-Williams-Honda have the support of their other driver-Nigel Mansell. Thus, after an extremely contested battle for the world top, Nelson Pike stands out above all. In 1987, the Brazilian won his third and last title from the World Championship in Formula 1. His teammate Nigel Mansell finished second, and Arton Senna with McLaren finished third. Alain Prost failed in his bid to defend his world title and finished 4th. <\/p><p style=\"margin-top:0pt;padding-top:0;margin-bottom:10pt;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.38\">With constructors, Williams-Honda easily won the title, leaving behind McLaren and Lotus-Honda.<\/p><p style=\"margin-top:0pt;padding-top:0;margin-bottom:10pt;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.38\">The Formula 1 calendar in 1987 contained 16 starts. The curious thing is that after a 10-year absence, the Grand Prix of Japan and the Suzuka circuit find a place in it again. <\/p><p style=\"margin-top:0pt;padding-top:0;margin-bottom:10pt;padding-bottom:0;line-height:1.38\">1987 is the first and only year in which drivers and constructors distributed two more awards in honor of two legends of Formula 1. The trophy of Jim Clark - two-time world champion and that of Colin Chapman - founder of Lotus. The two titles are for drivers and constructors, respectively, and the condition for winning them is that the cars are powered by a certain type of engine.
