SEASON 2004 IN FORMULA 1: SCHUMAHER'S SEVENTH

In the 2004 season, Michael Schumacher not only cemented his leadership in Formula 1, but proved to himself and the world that he was, in fact, at the top of the sport. For another year, the German broke a number of records, most of which he holds himself. In 2004 Schumacher won 13 starts. The previous top achievement was his from the 2002 season, when he triumphed in 11. This practically makes the German unattainable at the top of the standings and with 148 points he won the record seventh world title in Formula 1. With his success, he also improved the record for the most consecutive trophies- 5. Ferrari's fellow driver Rubens Barrichello finished second in the general standings. Jenson Button was ranked third. The young sensation of BAR recorded an extremely successful season. Fernando Alonso is fourth.
Among the constructors, the world title goes to Ferrari. Thus, the Scuderia improves the record for the most consecutive trophies - 6.
The calendar in 2004 includes two new starts. The brand new Sahir Circuit hosts the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai Circuit also appears.
