Charles Barkley and Gambling: How to Lose $2.5 Million in Hours

.

A huge percentage of the population will never have even a million dollars in their bank account. Some won't even come close to that figure in money earned and made in their lifetime. For some, however, $2.5 million is apparently not much, as the following story makes clear.

Charles Barkley is one of the most memorable names in basketball history, and certainly one of the greatest not to win an NBA title. However, in his career he has earned hundreds of millions of dollars through basketball and various businesses. However, he has one problem – he likes gambling a lot.

Over the years, he has lost millions at Las Vegas casinos, but one case is extremely disturbing. He admits that he had a 6-hour stretch where he was so unlucky that he lost over $2.5 million at the tables in a Nevada casino.

"It's stupid. I have a problem… but the problem is when you can't afford it. I can afford to gamble. I didn't kill myself when I lost $2.5 million. I love to gamble and I won't stop," he said in one of his interviews in 2006 for ESPN.

His addiction to games of chance reaches severe levels, and he himself has admitted that he has lost tens of millions. Another black mark on Barkley's business card is the fact that he was convicted of gambling debts. This happens at Wynn Casino, where the casino manager gives him 4 credits of $100,000, which Barkley predictably loses at the casino. He then refused to pay and the casino ordered him to pay both the $400,000 and $40,000 in attorney's fees.

This happened in 2008, and Barkley himself admitted that after this incident he took a break from gambling. It lasted for several years, but today he continues to bet large sums on sporting events and games of chance.
