Kobe Bryant and his eerie "dream" turned into reality
Kobe Bryant left the world too young and too soon. The legendary basketball player who achieved everything in the NBA had already gained momentum in the business world, earning millions from investments and developing his own brand. On top of that, he was more than successful in his dream of becoming a skilled storyteller, even winning an Oscar for the short film Dear Basketball.
We will never know how far Kobe would have gone had it not been for the unfortunate helicopter crash in 2020 that claimed the life of both the legend and one of his daughters. What's even more startling is that his close friend Tracy McGrady told a story that sounds chilling today - Kobe wanted to die young.
"It sounds crazy, but Kobe always said, 'I want to die young.' I want them to immortalize. I want my career to be better than Michael Jordan's and to die young," McGrady said in an old interview with ESPN in one of the many series dedicated to Kobe's life.
“I just thought he was out of his mind to say such things. It is clear that this statement predates the birth of his daughters. I'm sure he hasn't thought that way in a long time," McGrady said categorically.
The tragedy, which killed a total of 9 people, happened on January 26, 2020. She took the lives of Kobe and Gianna (his daughter). Kobe was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame, while all of his affairs are currently handled by his wife, Vanessa. As for Kobe's desire, he is definitely immortalized and, even if he is not recognized as better than Michael Jordan, it is generally agreed that he is the closest version of the greatness of the Airman that we have seen. His name entered the history of basketball long before the moment of his death came. It is a pity that fate decided to grant his wish, although it was made as a young, prosperous and very troubled youth.
