THE POKER GENIUS NEGREANU: HOW THE CANADIAN ACQUIRED FAME AND MONEY
The most recognizable face of poker in the 21st century
Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Eric Seidl, Doyle Brunson? Still potential answers to the question of who is the greatest poker player of all time. The solution to such a riddle is subjective, but certainly Daniel Negreanu deserves to be among the names discussed. Although the Canadian himself puts Ivy at the top of poker's greatest predators:
“To me, Phil Ivey will always be number one. When you say "poker" I think of all poker games. And Phil Ivey plays them all,” comments the Toronto-born rich man.
Negreanu's achievements are certainly not to be underestimated. The strategist known as Kid Poker has a total of 6 bracelets from the World Series of Poker, and the first was won back in 1998. And although it is far from the 16 of the American Phil Hellmuth, Negreanu has his own record in the WPS. No competitor has cashed in individual tournaments more times than Daniel (over 190). As a result, his poker earnings are over $20 million. In 2013, Negreanu won the World Series of Poker Player of the Year award for the second time. No one else takes this prize more than once.
Negreanu's successes don't stop there. The Canadian millionaire has two World Poker Tour championships to his name, with 7 more final table appearances. In 2014, he was voted the best poker player of the decade by the Global Poker Index.
In 2014, Daniel was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. All this thanks to his glittering professional career, which the nearly 50-year-old specialist began at the age of 22. He has always been known for his incredible consistency and the ease with which he has come out on top in so many major tournaments. Negreanu is one of the few inductees to the Hall who is not from the United States of America. He is also the only Canadian. But his inclusion in the list of the greatest poker players can't be a coincidence!
