Kubrat Pulev's Great 5: Boyat vs. Derek Chisora
Without any doubt, in recent years, Kubrat Pulev has made his name a factor as far as professional boxing is concerned. What's more, make the boxing world know exactly where Bulgaria is and how many talented athletes our country produces. All this, however, the Cobra achieved with incredible efforts in the ring.
The year is 2016. The place is Hamburg, Germany. Kubrat Pulev takes on Derek Chisora in a European heavyweight title fight. The stakes are practically huge. In theory too. In addition to the impressive 25 wins and only 5 losses, Chisora is also a contender for the world title. On his part, Kubrat Pulev has even more startling statistics for his opponents, in which there is only one loss, and not against another one, namely - Wladimir Klitschko since 2014. The victories are no less impressive-22.
Like any big match in professional boxing, this one is accompanied by loud promises, threats and arguments. The stormy nature of the British boxer and that of the fearless Bulgarian, however, become a sure guarantor for something more than just another duel in the ring. After the opening gong, all these theories become true.
Kubrat Pulev is merciless. The only thing that keeps Chisora on his feet after the start of the match is his stamina. Minimal flashes of his game in the second and ninth rounds keep the viewer's attention and hope for intrigue, but the Cobra leaves no chance to the opponent. Thus, with a 2:1 vote, Kubrat Pulev ascended the European throne for the second time in his career.
For the Cobra, the success is even greater because it also gives him a chance to once again become an official contender for the heavyweight world title. A peak that has not yet been conquered by another Bulgarian. A peak that few manage to reach.
