ABOUT THE BEGINNING AND THE END: The sixth season in Formula 1

Anyone who has touched the magic of Formula 1 inevitably remains captivated by the excitement and adrenaline that the race brings with it. And if today lightning-fast cars and brilliantly prepared drivers are the logical explanation for this, then anyone more familiar with the championship and the first seasons in it will confirm that this phenomenon is also observed at the dawn of the most elite car race.

For proof, we go back to the distant 1955. The year Formula 1 started its 6th season. Like any budding sport, this too undergoes various changes in the course of its development. For the first time, car engines were designed to be in the rear of the car. A solution that leads engineers to believe that they will increase the speed of movement. That's technically where the innovation ends. Of course, what happens on the track is more important.

The 1955 season will determine its new champion after 7 races. The calendar of the 6th season in Formula 1 includes the following starts: Grand Prix of Argentina, Grand Prix of Monaco, Indy 500, Grand Prix of Belgium, Grand Prix of the Netherlands, Grand Prix of Great Britain and Grand Prix of Italy. The host of the final race is the historic track "Monza", but the outcome in determining the champion did not wait for start number 7. In 1955. the dominance is definitely for Juan Manuel Fangio of Mercedes. The Argentine has won 6 out of 7 starts and leaves no doubt as to who deserves the title. The trophy triumph is the third of his career and the second with the Mercedes team.

Despite the categorically successful season that the team sent, in 1955 Mercedes exits Formula 1. To the sadness of all the fans supporting the team, their absence from the championship lasted until 2009.
