Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko, who divided the world of boxing "brotherly"
Between 2005 and 2012, the heavyweight division of world boxing was ruled by two brothers. For this incredibly long period of 7 years for the sport, neither Vitaliy nor Wladimir Klitschko has allowed a loss in the ring and proudly holds his world champion belts. The older one wins 12 consecutive battles for the top of the world, the younger one reaches 19. The world is divided by brothers.
Kubrat Pulev, David Haye, Mariusz Wach, Alexander Povetkin, Tony Thompson, Shannon Briggs, Corey Sanders and many other heavyweight stars have yet to defeat at least one member of the Klitschko family. Logically, the world asks itself two questions. Can anyone beat Vitaliy or Wladimir? And can we see them together in the ring?
In his long career, the older of the two lost twice. Lennox Lewis and Chris Bird defeated Vitaly, but the Ukrainian did not lose his last world title until his retirement in 2012.
By the age of 28, Vladimir was defeated 3 times. After her, he accumulated victories over 11 years until he faced the Englishmen Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua consecutively. Thus we get an answer to the first question - the Klitschko brothers can lose, but this happens very rarely.
And can we see them in a direct dispute? In 2015, promoter Don King attempted to settle the matter. And he's certainly not the only one. The man who worked with legends such as Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier and George Foreman offered £100 million to the Klitschko brothers to fight. The confession came personally from Vladimir 3 years after his brother's refusal. The answer is categorical and has always been the same - such a fight is impossible.
The reason? Long ago, the two made an oath to their mother that they would never fight each other outside of training. "You won't wait for such a match! I love Vitaly and he loves me. We will never fight in an official match. Even for 1 billion!" commented the younger Vladimir.
