Floyd Mayweather's records that will never be broken
Loved by millions, but disliked by perhaps the same number of fans, Floyd Mayweather will forever go down in history as one of the few undefeated champions, as well as the only one to reach the 50-win milestone without conceding a single loss. What's more, in his memorable career in the professional ring, almost no one has been able to trouble him, and his dominance is unmatched. At the same time, he becomes a real money machine, and the skillful navigation of his career brings him only dividends - huge earnings and a meeting with tough rivals at a suitable time for him. This is one of the reasons why Floyd is not the most loved boxer - the big accusation against him is that he always picked fights that he would not lose, as well as against top opponents who are far from their prime years (the most already applies to Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao). Regardless of the criticism, however, Floyd "Money" Mayweather goes down in history as one of the greatest of all time, and some of his records are unlikely to be bettered. Here are some of them:
Although criticized for his selection of opponents, even his harshest critics cannot deny the significance of this record. In 16 consecutive bouts, he defeated 16 different world champions, a record unmatched by anyone else. His streak began in 2005 and includes victories over Arturo Gatti, Zab Judah, Oscar de la Oya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana and Manny Pacquiao.
That record could have been equaled by Manny Pacquiao, but the Filipino suffered a sensational loss to Yordenis Ugas and is not expected to step into the professional ring again. No active boxer comes close to Floyd's record.
At least for now, Mayweather remains the only boxer with 50 or more wins and no losses or even a draw. Wanheng Menayotin could go on to improve this record, but lost in his last game to leave with a record of 50 wins and 1 loss
Mayweather has 15 titles on his business card, which are divided into 5 different categories. However, history indicates that the light-middleweight category (up to 69.9 kilograms) remains the most successful for him.
After his triumph over Manny Pacquiao in 2015, Floyd is the holder of 7 belts at the same time (5 of them world titles): WBC - welterweight, light middleweight; WBO - welterweight; WBA - Super Light Middleweight and Welterweight Titles; "The Ring" - light middleweight and welterweight.
A greatness for which the numbers speak volumes.
