Is there equality in basketball?

In most sports around the world, a draw exists as a perfectly possible outcome. The only sport in which there certainly cannot be equality is volleyball, but it is widely accepted that equality cannot be achieved in basketball either. The rules are made in such a way that a draw between two teams is impossible, but in fact there is an option for a basketball game to end in a draw in very rare cases.

Only in the European version of the game is it possible to have basketball, which, however, is allowed under strictly defined rules. In some of the European tournaments, there is an elimination phase - two teams face each other in two matches and the winning team is the one who scored more points in the two matches. However, this regulation allows equality. For example: if a team won the first match, the second match may end in a draw in regular time and no bids will be played. But this is the only way, according to the rules, for a basketball game to end in a tie.

Ties have occurred in the history of various leagues, but in so-called "extreme" conditions. For example, in the 1918 US college championship game between Kentucky Wesleyan and the University of Kentucky, after the end of the game the referees decided that they had mistakenly called a foul at the end and deducted a point from Wesleyan, which made the game a tie (21:21 ). However, such cases are precedents, not something standard.

In general, in basketball, it is accepted that there is no tie. In the NBA, for example, there has never been a tie game in history. The reason such a result is extremely rare is the fact that in this sport points are easily scored and in theory it is extremely difficult with such a result not to be able to broadcast a winner. That's why basketball is divided into "regular time" and "extra time", and in the event of a tie in regular time, additional parts (usually of 5 minutes each) are played to decide who will win. The game continues until there is no winner, regardless of how many extra pieces are needed in a fight.
