SPORTS LESSONS: Formula 1 season seven
The seventh season in the Formula 1 World Championship in 1956. is the first without the participation of the Mercedes team. Juan Manuel Fangio, who triumphed with the title in the past campaign, is now part of the Ferrari team. A decision that gives him a chance to achieve the unthinkable until now - a third consecutive world title in the most elite car race.
Although sport has always stayed away from political or public life, leaving the outcome to be decided by the best, the times do not leave a chance for Formula 1 either. The Suez crisis is a fact, and oil prices are jumping multiple times. This leaves some teams unable to continue in the competition, and two of the planned starts are cancelled. Thus, everything is decided in a total of 8 races: Grand Prix of Argentina, Grand Prix of Monaco, Indianapolis 500, Grand Prix of Belgium, Grand Prix of France, Grand Prix of Great Britain, Grand Prix of Germany and of course Grand Prix of Italy.
Once again, Monza, like last season, will host the final race. The joy for Ferrari fans is even greater, as the Argentine sensation Juan Manuel Fangio is now part of the team. However, this time, unlike the previous one, the title is decided precisely in the last start.
Juan Manuel Fangio has every chance to triumph for the third time in his career. However, the final race at Ferrari's home track did not go according to plan. The Argentine was moving third when team-mate Peter Collins decided to skip him. Thus, although he does not win at "Monza", he ends up with a sufficient number of points to triumph with the world title. What Collins is doing is remarkable for a number of reasons. The Ferrari driver is British, as is Italian Grand Prix winner Stirling Moss. Moss, however, is a Maserati driver, and true to his team, Collins shows unprecedented sportsmanship and ensures the title stays at home.
